Introduction

I fell in love with kayaking twelve years ago and enjoy passing along the love of the sport to others. After teaching others for a long time, I spent a vacation in New Hampshire getting certified by the American Canoe Association.

Any paddling experience, even distant past? And in what - canoe, kayak, other?

Canoed growing up, tandem kayaked and moved on to paddling my 12' Wilderness System Pungo, the best recreational kayak on the river.

If you can do ?? after the lesson you will feel like your money was well spent.

For nine years on a Mazda I transported a 12' boat that weighs 47 pounds. Ladies, don't let anyone talk you into a small, light boat that you will regret owning every mile you are on the river! Let me show you how it's done.

What motivates you to take the lesson?

There's bad advice given by untrained people doing an injustice to the sport. Learn from those who belong to organized paddling associations. Your safety depends on it.

Hi Leslie I will be visiting you from Australia this weekend and was hoping to get a couple of paddles in to keep in shape for an upcoming race. I am pretty competitive for a over 50's guy and was hoping there might be someone around willing to do a bit of a work out with. I would also need a boat, ideas?

Leslie - Really looking forward to the Duck River this weekend, but can't seem to figure out how to pay for a rental in advance. I'll need to rent a kayak. New to the site, new to kayaking. But I've done a lot of canoeing before.

Thanks for your prompt reply. Should I call the restaurant to make arrangements to leave my car there while paddling? We will be able to paddle back to Shady Cove with others as opposed to the origination point across the lake? How late do you think we'll be out paddling?
