Price: $60.00/per person
We're off to another great year of new kayakers - yeehaw!
You'll be treated to three hours of a private lesson with no more than four other people.
You will learn to control and navigate a kayak where you want it to go, paddling safety, Universal River Signals, how to load and unload a boat, what to buy and not buy, and hot tips on safe kayaking and river etiquette. By the end of the lesson, you'll talk and feel like a paddler and have fun! If you aren't sure, read the hundreds of great comments left by previous students.
Boat and all gear provided for lesson at no extra charge. Children ages 8+ welcome to attend.
What to bring: Wear or bring shoes that can get wet, and comfortable clothes. If you want to get 'baptized' and get your first flip out of the way, wear something that you don't mind getting wet.
Please Note: Open and close the gate when you arrive. Drive through the opening of the barbed wire 'gate' and proceed to the point of the property near the water.
Hi, Dara - absolutely the place to start. Don't take my word for it, please feel free to browse the comments of people who've taken the private lessons! We start from ground zero and end with people saying, "I love this!"
Hi Leslie, I am so glad I found your class. I do have a couple of questions. First, do we pay when we show up? Second, should we take the lesson before the March paddle or could we do both? Oops and one more, what happens in the event of bad weather? Early Spring is pretty unpredictable when it comes to weather.
Hi Cheryl, 1. When you sign up for a class, the site prompts for payment through Paypal. 2. The March event isn't a lesson, it's for those who want to rent a kayak on a lake. For people with spring fever - renting kayaks offers them something fun to do to get outside. 3. I agree about the unpredictable spring rains. With all my classes, if rain is predicted during lesson hours you'll get a choice of a refund, postpone the lesson or if I decide to proceed, to, well, proceed.
Thanks Leslie, I'm so excited to find your site. Kayaking is on my bucket list. Look forward to meeting you both days.
I looked for your phone number or email, I have some private concerns to discuss and possible arrange private lesson rather than group.
From a student who took Leslie's lesson last September: don't worry, you'll definitely get your money's worth!! :-)
Due to a change of plans, this lesson is postponed to Sunday, April 22. Meetup doesn't have a postpone button. :)
Hi Leslie, just checking to see if you have considered a week day lesson in May yet. . .Im sure your busy I just keep checking the calendar randomly. . .if not I may need to talk with you about a private lesson. . . just anxious to get in the water! thanks
Sounds like the Friday lesson in April won't work for you. Sorry! There will be a weekday paddle in May. Stay tuned. :)
I may just have to miss a day of work. . .Darn! lol. . yes I do work Fri, Sat, Sun so a Mon - Thurs would be ideal. . I will wait to see if you organize one in May. . .thanks for working with me. . and what is a "paddle" session? would that be ok for a beginner? what would I need to bring?
Refunds are not offered for this Meetup.

I would be a first time kayaker....Is this class designed for that? If so, I want to be there.
