Full Moon Paddle

This location is shown only to members

So far rain is predicted for the middle of the day with the evening rain-free - yeah!!! The event IS A GO!

**In the event of 80% or greater chance of rain for the evening, we'll all meet at the marina and enjoy a great evening out. Quick, do an un-rain dance!!!** Check the site and your email the afternoon of the 21st for any update.

Join me paddling across Old Hickory Lake near the dam to Anchor High Marina, enjoying dinner and then paddling back by the (almost) full moon! I have five boats - whoever claims them first gets dibs. I'm asking a minimal amount to pay for gas and handling. Boat owners are welcome to attend as well as anyone who just wants to meet us there and not paddle.

RSVP by Tuesday, Aug. 17. RSVP's closed after that date so the restaurant will know how many paddlers will be invading that evening.

If you've had a lesson you are welcome to attend this event, or be an experienced paddler.

Other group members who'd like to attend....No need to join my kayak lessons meetup to RSVP for this event. Just shoot me an email and you'll be added as a guest.

We will take our time cruising under the moon back to the parking lot.

Where we'll meet: Closest physical address to Old Hickory Dam

~~~~Bring a flashlight or headlamp!!~~~~
    If someone needs a kayak, I can borrow a car to transport mine. I would hate for someone not to be able to participate. I'll just need help putting it back on the roof rack in the dark. Maybe it can be
    a demonstration of do's and don'ts. :)
    It's the paddlers way to help each other without being asked and glad to do so. Yep, you will have plenty of help - its the way we roll. Or should I not use that word? teeheehee
    What's the minimum age for the Full Moon Paddle? A friend wants to come and wondered about bringing her early teenaged son.
    Karen, your friend's son is welcome. However, please let mom know that there won't be a LOT of drinking going on but there will be alcohol flowing at the Marina.
    The site puts the newest reservations on top, meaning the first ones who claimed my boats are at the bottom of the RSVPs: Cindy, Holly, Nichole, Dana and Peggy O. If any of them changes their RSVP to No, the next one in line is Lynn Tyler and so up the line.
    Lynn gets the yak that Holly reserved. Tracy's new boat came in (yeahh! congrats!), Dr. Tim, AngieM, Jessie and Clayton have boats so that makes the last boat available for Karen. Everyone's set, awesome! (Nichole, sorry you can't make it. Hope to see you at the party for lesson grads.)
    Is the address above the correct address for where we are meeting? I am a bit unfamiliar with the area so I want to make sure. Thanks, see you all in a few!!
    Yes, Dana, the address listed for the event is the address where we are meeting. Don't feel bad, not even locals are familiar with the address. It's a hidden gem.
    I hate to cancel at the last minute but it is thundering and raining at my house which makes me a bit nervous for my first paddling event. I'd still like to meet for dinner. Is there an approximate time of arrival at the marina?
    Anyone who wants to just meet at Anchor High and skip the paddle, the meetup time is 7 p.m. See you there!
    I had already cancelled, but am so sorry the paddle will probably not materialize. It's been raining hard and thundering and lightening for over an hour where I am. Any chance we can try this particular trip again?
    By reports, at that time it was drenching some other part of Nashville but by some power far greater than mine at 6:01, the rain stopped and the sun came out on the lake! Tracy's new Pungo got it's maiden voyage and fourteen of us enjoyed a great evening at the Marina. Thank you to all the brave paddlers who came out! You are the bestest!
    How odd that so many of the PA+ members dropped off and it was mostly new paddlers that braved the weather to attend. Your determination is admirable. <shaking my head in amazement> I totally understand why people didn't go, the weather was so awful up to minutes before the event. For those of you who came, and those who showed up at the marina, I'm proud of you. Thank you!
    Thank-you, Leslie, and all those who turned out. It was a perfect first time out forme and my boat. No stars or moon, but cool, a cool, calm, and relaxing paddle.
    How can you rate a paddle a 5 stars when you didn't actually paddle? Because the group and location was great anyway. I brought two friends to the marina for dinner. I should've known that although it was storming to the south, the sky would clear for QuietWater. Rats, I could've been out there! It was great seeing everyone and waving the paddlers off into the night. Hope to paddle next time. At least one of my friends is going to take the class. I recommended it but meeting the group sealed the deal. I know it'll build not only her skill but also her confidence and help her get out on the water more since the group is great fun. Thanks for the company and for making my friends feel so welcome!
    Just goes to show, you never know what the weather will do - we just show up and hope for the best! So glad we got to paddle last night. The water was perfectly calm and the clouds and distant lightning in the clouds were beautiful on the way back. Lovely evening, and great seeing everyone at Anchor High.
